Charles Schwertner, a prominent figure in the Texas legislative scene, recently shared his thoughts on various developments via social media. His comments touched upon the conclusion of the 89th Legislative Session, legal matters involving General Paxton, and immigration enforcement policies.

On June 3, 2025, Schwertner expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the 89th Legislative Session. He noted that significant strides were made in several areas: “Yesterday, the 89th Legislative Session adjourned Sine Die, and I couldn’t be prouder of what was accomplished in this session! We delivered significant property tax relief, made historic investments in public education and teacher pay, reformed bail, strengthened the electric”.

The following day on June 4, Schwertner addressed a legal issue concerning General Paxton. He urged for a resolution by stating: “I hope General Paxton does not defend this terrible statute and settles this case. #txlege”.

On June 5, Schwertner reiterated his commitment to enforcing immigration laws uniformly. As an advocate for E-Verify since its inception in 2015, he stated: “As the author of the first E-Verify law in 2015, I remain committed to expanding its use to all employment. We cannot selectively choose which immigration laws to enforce – they must all be enforced, and E-Verify is an important component. #txlege”.
