Texas A&M basketball player Mackenzie Mgbako has been named to the men’s basketball SEC Community Service Team, according to an announcement from the league office.
Mgbako has contributed to the Brazos Valley community by partnering with Walmart and the Boys and Girls Club of the Brazos Valley to provide Thanksgiving turkeys for 70 families. He also participated with his teammates in shopping for, wrapping, and donating Christmas gifts to Still Creek Ranch, which supports at-risk children in the area. In addition, Mgbako extended his outreach to New Jersey by working with the South Amboy YMCA to donate toys for all children in their SACC program before Christmas.
On the court, Mgbako played seven games before an injury ended his season ahead of SEC play. During those games, he averaged 10.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game and scored in double figures five times, including a 19-point performance against Mississippi Valley State.
