U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul, representing Texas and chairman emeritus of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has cast his vote in favor of the fiscal year 2026 Defense appropriations bill. The legislation aims to support U.S. servicemembers and strengthen national security.

“After four years of President Biden’s weak leadership that fueled global chaos, the Trump administration has worked swiftly to reassert U.S. military superiority and restore peace through strength,” stated Rep. McCaul. “Today, I was proud to help advance their work at this crucial moment in history by voting to fully fund our Department of Defense.”

The FY26 Department of Defense Appropriations Act includes several measures:

– A 3.8 percent pay raise for all military personnel.
– Funding for border security and counter-drug trafficking measures.
– Elimination of waste, fraud, and abuse at the Pentagon.
– Embedding AI and advanced technology into defense operations.
– Investment in critical ships, aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, hypersonics, missile warning systems.
– Enhancement of medical programs and quality of life improvements for servicemembers and their families.
