Michael McCaul, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 10th district since 2005, recently shared his thoughts on several pressing issues through social media. Born in Dallas in 1962 and currently residing in Austin, McCaul has a background in law with degrees from Trinity University and St. Mary’s University.

On June 2, 2025, McCaul expressed his deep sorrow regarding an attack on peaceful marchers supporting Israeli hostages. Among the victims was a Holocaust survivor. He condemned the rise of antisemitic violence, stating “Deeply saddened and disturbed by this heinous attack on innocent people — including a Holocaust survivor — who were marching peacefully in support of Israeli hostages.” He called for an end to such acts and offered prayers for recovery.

Later that day, McCaul paid tribute to Sheriff Gene Hermes of Burleson County. In his message, he described Hermes as “a dedicated public servant who always put the safety and wellbeing of Burleson County first.” He extended his condolences to Hermes’ family during their time of loss.

On June 3, 2025, McCaul addressed the prolonged captivity of Houston-native journalist Austin Tice by the Assad regime in Syria. He urged action from Syria’s interim government to locate Tice and secure his release. His statement read: “The Assad regime’s brutality knew no bounds… I urge Syria’s interim government to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to locate Austin and finally bring him home.”

Michael McCaul continues to serve as a vocal advocate on both domestic and international issues through his role in Congress.
