Michael McCaul, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee’s special events task force, has highlighted his recent efforts to address security concerns and recognize law enforcement personnel in a series of social media posts.
On January 7, 2026, McCaul posted: “As chairman of @HomelandGOP’s special events task force, I’ve been working diligently to address the growing threat drones pose to upcoming events like the World Cup. Banning foreign-made components brings us one step closer to securing our airspace & ensuring safe games for all.”
Two days later, on January 9, he expressed gratitude toward law enforcement officers: “I’m incredibly grateful for the men and women who selflessly protect and serve communities all across the nation. Please join me in thanking our law enforcement today for their courage and sacrifice. I will always #backtheblue!”
Later that same day, McCaul commented on ongoing protests in Iran: “The people of Iran deserve far better than the Ayatollah’s brutal and repressive regime. As thousands of Iranians courageously take to the streets this week, I echo President Trump’s demand for the regime to refrain from violence.
President Trump has proven he means business”
McCaul has a history of electoral success in Texas congressional races. In 2024, he defeated Theresa Boisseau with 63.6% of the vote; previous victories include wins over Linda Nuno in 2022 (63.3%), Mike Siegel in both 2020 (52.5%) and 2018 (51.1%), and Tawana Walter-Cadien in both 2016 (57.3%) and 2014 (62.2%).
