Michael McCaul, a U.S. Congressman who has repeatedly won re-election since 2014, used his social media platform in March 2026 to address issues related to Havana syndrome and Tibet.

On March 9, 2026, McCaul wrote: “For years as the top Republican on @HouseForeignGOP, I led efforts to expose the horrific impacts of Havana syndrome on innocent Americans who were simply serving their country. Far too often, our efforts were ignored or rebuffed by the Biden administration and the intelligence”.

The following day, McCaul marked an anniversary significant to Tibetan history. On March 10, 2026, he stated: “Sixty-seven years ago today, the Tibetan people bravely rose up to defend their freedom, religion, and way of life. The Chinese Communist Party responded with a violent crackdown that forced thousands into exile. But to this day, Tibetans’ commitment to peace and perseverance”.

In a separate post on the same day, McCaul highlighted his visit with Tibetan leaders: “It was a tremendous honor to visit Dharamshala and personally tell the Dalai Lama and his people that the U.S. has not forgotten their plight. We will continue to firmly stand with Tibetans against the CCP’s ongoing oppression until they can safely return to their homeland.”

Michael McCaul has maintained a strong electoral record over recent cycles. In 2024 he defeated Theresa Boisseau in the general election with 63.6% of votes; previous victories include wins over Linda Nuno in 2022 (63.3%), Mike Siegel in both 2020 (52.5%) and 2018 (51.1%), Tawana Walter-Cadien in both 2016 (57.3%) and 2014 (62.2%).
