Michael McCaul, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 10th district since 2005, commented on recent events involving law enforcement and border security in a series of tweets posted on July 21, 2025.

In his first post, McCaul expressed support for law enforcement and referenced the current administration’s mandate. He stated, “This is a prime example of why the American people elected @POTUS with a mandate of enforcing our laws & cleaning up our streets. My thoughts are with the brave officer as he recovers from his injuries, & I look forward to seeing the perpetrators brought to swift & full justice.” (July 21, 2025).

Addressing immigration policy and sanctuary cities in a subsequent tweet on the same day, McCaul wrote, “President Biden’s catch-and-release scheme allowed these violent men into our country, & sanctuary cities gave them safe harbor to commit felonies—culminating in this brutal attack on an off-duty CBP officer. This tragedy was entirely preventable.” (July 21, 2025).

Later that evening, McCaul recognized Rep. Mark Green’s service both in the military and Congress: “.@RepMarkGreen has served his nation honorably — first as a flight surgeon in combat zones, then as a congressman and esteemed chairman of @HomelandGOP. When the Biden administration abdicated its duty to protect the border, Mark stood in the gap — fighting every day to defend” (July 21, 2025).

Michael McCaul has been serving as a member of Congress for Texas’s 10th District since replacing Lloyd Doggett in 2005. Born in Dallas in 1962 and currently residing in Austin at age 61, McCaul holds degrees from Trinity University and St. Mary’s University School of Law.
