Michael McCaul condemns CCP exit bans and announces new judge protection bill

Michael McCaul, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 10th district since 2005, has recently addressed a series of pressing national and international issues through his official Twitter account.

On July 22, 2025, McCaul criticized the Chinese Communist Party’s use of exit bans on American citizens. He stated, “Once again the CCP is showing the world its true colors. I strongly condemn these arbitrary exit bans; Beijing must reverse course and allow these Americans to return home. The CCP cannot be trusted — this should serve as a warning to all freedom-loving people of the inherent”.

The following day, July 23, 2025, McCaul highlighted domestic security concerns in anticipation of major upcoming events in the United States. He wrote, “As the U.S. prepares to host millions at upcoming sporting events & celebrations, I’m chairing the Task Force on Enhancing Security for Special Events to ensure we will meet any threat with the full strength & resolve of a nation united—& prepared. On July 24, 2025, McCaul announced legislative action addressing violence against judicial officers. In collaboration with Rep. Lucy McBath, he introduced new legislation aimed at protecting judges: “Amidst a dramatic increase in threats & attacks on local & state judges, I am proud to introduce the Countering Threats and Attacks on Our Judges Act in the House with @RepLucyMcBath to send a clear message: violence or threats against our judicial officers is never acceptable.”

McCaul was born in Dallas in 1962 and currently resides in Austin. He holds degrees from Trinity University (BA) and St. Mary’s University School of Law (JD). Since replacing Lloyd Doggett in Congress two decades ago, he has focused on issues ranging from international human rights to domestic security challenges.
