Michael McCaul, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 10th district since 2005, has been active on social media discussing recent events and initiatives. Born in Dallas, Texas in 1962, McCaul holds a BA from Trinity University and a JD from St. Mary’s University, Texas. He currently resides in Austin.

On May 20, 2025, McCaul tweeted about his participation in Pope Leo XIV’s Inaugural Mass over the weekend. Following the event, he joined Representative MMM to extend an invitation to His Holiness to address a joint session of Congress. McCaul expressed that both Congress and the American people would benefit greatly from hearing the first American Pope’s vision for the role of the Catholic Church.

The following day, on May 21, 2025, McCaul shared his sentiments regarding the passing of Gerry Connolly. He described Connolly’s death as a personal loss and reflected on their time serving together in Congress and on the Foreign Affairs Committee. McCaul remembered Connolly as “a good and decent man” who consistently conducted himself with statesmanship within Congress.

Later that same day, McCaul addressed foreign aid policy issues via Twitter. He emphasized the need to refocus U.S. foreign aid on countering adversaries such as Communist China. During discussions with Secretary Rubio, he questioned how efforts to reauthorize the State Department could help streamline foreign aid and advance administration foreign policy goals.
