Passed bill authored by State Rep. Trey Wharton aims to honor Sergeant Mark Butler by designating a portion of State Highway 6 in Brazos County as a memorial highway, reflecting recognition of local service, according to the Texas Legislature website.

Wharton, a Republican, was elected to the Texas State House in 2023 to represent the state's 12th House district, replacing previous state representative Kyle Kacal.
