No. 22 Texas A&M secured a series sweep over Oakland with a 12-1 run-rule victory on Saturday at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. The Aggies improved their season record to 14-1 after collecting 14 hits and drawing four walks in the game.
Seven players from Texas A&M recorded hits, with Gavin Grahovac, Nico Partida, and Caden Sorrell each tallying three hits. Blake Binderup and Sorrell both drove in three runs and hit home runs during the contest. Partida scored three times and added a solo home run in the second inning.
Starting pitcher Aiden Sims earned his third win of the season by delivering five scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out four batters. Josh Stewart pitched two innings in relief, giving up one run on four hits and striking out four Oakland hitters.
The scoring began in the first inning when Sorrell walked, stole second base, and was driven home by Grahovac’s single. In the second inning, Partida hit a solo homer to left-center field. The Aggies extended their lead further in the fourth inning through a combination of singles from Boston Kellner and Partida, an RBI single by Binderup, an error that allowed two runs to score, another RBI single from Terrence Kiel II, an RBI single by Sorrell, and a fielder’s choice that brought Kiel home.
In the fifth inning, Partida singled before Binderup hit a two-run homer. Harrison reached on an infield single ahead of Sorrell’s two-run home run to right-center field for a 12-0 lead.
Oakland scored its only run in the sixth inning when Kyle Revere walked and Lucas Day singled before Ben Clark drove in Revere with a single to right field.
Saturday marked just the third meeting between Texas A&M and Oakland; with this win, Texas A&M leads the all-time series 3-0. Attendance for Saturday’s game was reported at 5,105 fans.
Sorrell’s home run was his 31st as an Aggie, moving him into ninth place on Texas A&M’s all-time list for career homers. He also recorded his seventh multi-hit and multi-RBI game of the season—both team highs so far this year. Kellner and Kiel have now reached base safely in every game this season (15 games). Grahovac extended his hitting streak to six games. Sims logged his first career scoreless start while Stewart matched his season high with four strikeouts.
Texas A&M’s .938 winning percentage through its first 16 games is its second highest since 2018. The team has swept three consecutive weekend opponents for the first time since opening series play in 2024.
