Texas A&M’s men’s basketball team secured a 94-91 victory over LSU in a triple-overtime game at the Maravich Assembly Center on Saturday. Rashaun Agee scored a key three-point play with 24 seconds left in the third overtime, putting the Aggies ahead for good.
The Aggies were trailing 91-90 after LSU’s Jalen Reece made a jumper, but Agee responded by drawing his defender into the air with a pump fake and driving to score while also converting the free throw. After Reece missed another shot, Ali Dibba made one of two free throws, and Texas A&M held on as Max MacKinnon missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Neither team led by more than one possession during the overtime periods until Rubén Dominguez hit a three-pointer with under three minutes left in the final overtime. The win improved Texas A&M’s record to 21-10 overall and 11-7 in SEC play, securing them the sixth seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming SEC Tournament.
Texas A&M forced 22 turnovers from LSU and recorded a season-high 17 steals. Agee and Rylan Griffen combined for half of their team’s points, with Agee matching Tyler Davis’ school record for double-doubles in a season—his twelfth—with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Griffen set career highs across several categories including points (24), rebounds (seven), steals (six), and blocks (three).
Pop Isaacs contributed 18 points along with seven rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Dibba added 12 points and matched his best with five steals.
LSU had an early advantage due to Texas A&M’s shooting struggles but could not maintain it as Griffen helped keep his team close before halftime. The Aggies overcame deficits multiple times during regulation before both teams missed opportunities to win late in regulation time.
In overtime periods, neither side was able to gain significant separation until late in the third extra period when Texas A&M took control following Dominguez’s three-pointer.
With this result, Texas A&M will be seeded sixth for the SEC Tournament and is scheduled to play on Thursday, March 12 on SEC Network.
A postgame interview with head coach Bucky McMillan is available online.
