The Texas A&M Aggies men’s golf team is set to compete in the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette. The tournament will take place over two days, with 36 holes scheduled for Monday starting at 8 a.m. and the final round beginning Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
Texas A&M has seen recent success at this event, having won three of the last four editions. In previous years, they secured victories by double-digit margins, including a 17-stroke win in 2024. Last year, the Aggies finished as runners-up after a close contest with LSU. Phichaksn Maichon led Texas A&M with a third-place individual finish, while teammates Wheaton Ennis and Aaron Pounds also placed in the top ten.
Entering this year’s tournament, Texas A&M holds the No. 29 spot in the Scoreboard by Clippd rankings. Aaron Pounds is currently ranked No. 25 among national players and Wheaton Ennis sits at No. 72.
The lineup for Texas A&M includes Ennis, Pounds, Jaime Montojo (Madrid), Alex Long (Lakewood Ranch), and Kris Kuvaas (Houston). Competing as individuals are Jacob Sosa (Austin), Jack Usner (Woodlands), and freshman Shiv Parmer (Selma).
Half of the field is ranked within the top 100 teams nationally according to Scoreboard by Clippd. Other leading contenders include Little Rock (No. 48), South Alabama (No. 65), and Michigan (No. 79).
Oakbourne Country Club has hosted notable tournaments since its establishment in 1955 and features mature oak trees along with water hazards on its par-72 course measuring over 7,100 yards.
Weather forecasts indicate potential thunderstorms or showers on Monday with temperatures around 80 degrees Fahrenheit and southerly winds up to 22 mph gusts according to AccuWeather.com; Weather.com reports similar conditions but suggests lower chances of precipitation.
