The Texas A&M women’s golf team was named the number one seed for the upcoming NCAA Waco Regional, according to an April 29 announcement by the NCAA. The regional will be held at Ridgewood Country Club from May 11 to May 13.

This selection marks the Aggies’ 33rd appearance in the NCAA postseason and their fifth under head coach Gerrod Chadwell. To advance to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California, scheduled for April 22-27, Texas A&M must finish within the top five after three rounds of stroke play.

Texas A&M has won five tournaments this season using five different lineups and recently reached the semifinals at the Southeastern Conference Championship. The team has finished outside of the top three only once in eleven tournaments this year.

The Aggies are led by Vanessa Borovilos, who was recently named to the ANNIKA Award Postseason Watch List, and Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio. Both golfers participated in this year’s Augusta National Women’s Amateur and were recognized as preseason All-Americans.

This is Texas A&M’s second time earning a number one seed at an NCAA regional under Chadwell’s leadership; their previous top seeding came in 2023 at the San Antonio Regional. The field for this year’s Waco Regional includes Oregon, Tennessee, SMU, Baylor, LSU, TCU, Tulsa, Colorado, Northern Arizona, Tarleton State and Prairie View A&M.
