The Texas A&M women’s golf team finished as runner-up at the GameAbove Invitational after shooting an 11-under-par 277 in the final round on March 10. The tournament took place at Rolling Hills Country Club, where the Aggies posted their lowest round of the week and tied for the eighth lowest in program history.
The result highlights Texas A&M’s strong performance against top-ranked competition, with all five team members finishing in the top 15. This achievement demonstrates the team’s depth and consistency as they prepare for postseason play.
Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said, “Really proud to have had the lowest round of the week by any team on USC’s home course. You need to play this place more than once to feel comfortable out there. We got better each round with some great adjustments. We have been able to test ourselves against the best, and next time we take the course in Fort Worth we will do that again. We put ourselves in position to get better and to prepare for postseason play.”
Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio led Texas A&M individually with a score of four-under-par 212 over three rounds, while freshman Natalie Yen finished one shot behind at three-under-par 213, marking her best performance of the season. Vanessa Borovilos recorded a five-under-par 67 in her final round, climbing 20 spots on the leaderboard to tie for sixth alongside teammate Brynn Kort, who logged her fourth top-10 finish of her first collegiate season. Sky Sudberry rounded out the group by tying for 14th place.
Tournament champion Southern California finished at 22-under-par, followed by Texas A&M at ten-under-par and Oregon at eleven-over-par. The Aggies are scheduled to compete next at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Challenge on March 23-24 in Fort Worth.
