The Texas A&M women’s tennis team, currently ranked No. 8 nationally, will host Mississippi State and Alabama at the Mitchell Tennis Center this week. The matches are scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. against Mississippi State and Saturday at noon versus Alabama.
Texas A&M enters the weekend with an overall record of 11-2 and a perfect 3-0 mark in Southeastern Conference play. The Aggies have maintained a strong home presence, remaining undefeated at 5-0 this season and extending their home winning streak to 76 matches. Their most recent performances include road victories over Vanderbilt and Missouri.
Individually, Lucciana Perez holds a No. 5 national singles ranking with a flawless 12-0 record in singles play so far this season, achieving several wins over ranked opponents. Freshman Ilinca Amariei has recently earned her first career ITA ranking at No. 60 after defeating Vanderbilt’s Valeria Ray, who was ranked No. 15.
Thursday’s match marks the 16th meeting between Texas A&M and Mississippi State, with the Aggies leading the series 14-1. In their last encounter in 2025, Texas A&M won by a score of 4-0. Mississippi State comes into the contest with a record of 12-2 overall and is currently on a three-match winning streak after sweeping Memphis. The Bulldogs have two doubles teams that are nationally ranked: Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz/Gianna Oboniye at No. 18 and Kempenaers-Pocz/Chiara Di Genova at No. 71.
