The No. 5 Texas A&M women’s tennis team will host the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs for a Southeastern Conference match at Mitchell Tennis Center, with first serves scheduled for 5 p.m. on March 11.

This matchup is significant as it features two of the highest-ranked teams in collegiate women’s tennis, both vying for dominance in the SEC standings. While Georgia holds the top spot in the ITA Rankings with a 9-2 overall record and a 4-1 mark in conference play, Texas A&M shares the lead in the SEC standings alongside Auburn, boasting a 13-2 overall record and an undefeated 5-0 record within the league.

The contest will showcase some of the nation’s best individual talent. Texas A&M’s Lucciana Perez enters ranked No. 5 nationally and remains unbeaten this season at 14-0, including a perfect record against other top-25 players. Georgia’s Aysegul Mert is ranked just behind at No. 6. The Aggies also feature three additional ranked singles players: Mia Kupres (No. 28), Ilinca Amariei (No. 60), and Violeta Martinez (No. 86). Georgia counters with six ranked athletes, including Anastasiia Gureva (No. 36), Anastasiia Lopata (No. 37), Deniz Dilek (No. 48), Sofia Rojas (No. 61), and Patricija Paukstyte (No. 115).

Recent history between these programs has been competitive, with eight meetings over the past two seasons across major tournaments such as the ITA Indoor Championships, SEC Tournament, and NCAA Championship finals both years. In their last NCAA final meeting in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Texas A&M claimed victory over Georgia for the national title in 2024; however, Georgia won their most recent postseason encounter last year in Waco.

Fans attending Thursday’s match can participate in several promotions including a Babolat Tennis Racquet giveaway and free general admission for all spectators. Additional incentives include double points for members of the “12th Man Rewards” program and opportunities to earn exclusive team merchandise by attending multiple home matches.

Live video streams and statistics will be available online prior to each match through x.com/AggieWTEN.
