Born December 12, 1967; NFL defensive tackle raised in Hearne
John Anthony Randle was born December 12, 1967, in Mumford, Texas, and grew up in Hearne, Texas. He played high school football in Hearne before moving on to Trinity Valley Community College and Texas A&I University. Randle went undrafted in 1990 but signed with the Minnesota Vikings, where he played eleven seasons as a defensive tackle. He was selected to seven Pro Bowls and six first-team All-Pro squads. Randle recorded 137.5 career sacks, ranking first among defensive tackles since 1982 and tenth overall. He played three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks before retiring in 2004. In 2010, Randle was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His achievements include leading the Vikings in sacks for nine seasons and being recognized in multiple halls of fame. Randle is connected to Hearne through his high school years and remains noted for his impact on football despite being undrafted.
