U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul, chairman emeritus of the House Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security Committees, appeared on "Fox News Sunday" with Shannon Bream to discuss several pressing international issues. The topics included the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Iranian nuclear threats, and domestic security measures under the Trump administration.

Regarding ceasefire negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, McCaul emphasized the importance of recognizing Russian President Vladimir Putin's stance. He stated, "I think we have to be clear-eyed as to who Mr. Putin is. He has not come to the negotiating table." McCaul highlighted the different targets in Ukraine's counterattacks compared to Russian attacks on civilian structures.

On the subject of Ukraine’s Operation Spiderweb and its implications for U.S. defense capabilities, McCaul noted a shift in warfare technology. He said, "It was a seismic change in modern warfare technology... We don't have the countermeasures to block these UAVs, and we need to develop those because that will be the future of warfare."

Addressing concerns about Iranian nuclear proliferation, McCaul conveyed Trump's stance that any deal should include "zero enrichment." He explained potential consequences if diplomacy fails: "The retaliation from Iran will be severe... They’ll hit Jordan, they'll hit Saudi Arabia, and they'll hit Israel."

Discussing efforts by the Trump administration to combat violent illegal immigration, McCaul referred to a recent case involving smuggling operations linked with MS-13 gang members. He remarked on political responses: "What I'm amazed at... is seeing Democrats hold Mr. Garcia up as if he's some golden boy poster child."
