Michael McCaul, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 10th district since 2005, has recently shared his concerns on social media regarding the severe flooding in Central Texas. Born in Dallas in 1962 and currently residing in Austin, McCaul is an alumnus of Trinity University and St. Mary's University School of Law.
On July 4, 2025, McCaul expressed his sorrow over the tragic floods that claimed several lives. He stated, "Heartbroken to hear of the sudden floods in Central Texas that took several lives today. Please join me in prayer for those who died, their loved ones, and especially for the 20+ children who remain missing." He also extended gratitude to the first responders actively engaged in rescue operations.
The following day, July 5, McCaul provided an update on the situation as the death toll rose to 27. He reiterated his support for those affected by stating, "I am continuing to monitor the devastating floods that have now taken 27 lives in Central Texas." Additionally, he directed individuals seeking assistance to resources offered by @TDEM.
On July 7, McCaul paid tribute to Dick Eastland of Camp Mystic who perished while attempting to save campers from rising floodwaters. He remarked, "As the floodwaters rose, Dick Eastland—the owner and director of Camp Mystic—refused to give up on his campers." The congressman extended condolences to Eastland's family and acknowledged his heroism.
